My Commitment to the 5th District
Lexington’s 5th District deserves leadership that listens, shows up, and gets results. I am running for City Council to bring practical solutions, thoughtful growth, and a strong community voice to City Hall.
We must fully fund and prioritize the basic services of city government and be financially cautious as we address the needs of Lexington, live within our means, protect our rainy-day and snowy-day funds, make smart investments that keep Lexington progressive and prosperous — without placing additional burdens on you.
I am running to restore common-sense leadership and integrity to our City Council and return our focus to the basic services local government is meant to provide its taxpayers. Lexington’s 5th District deserves leadership that listens, shows up and gets results.
I am a lifelong resident of Lexington, and I have lived in the Fifth District for more than forty years. I promise to find and bring pragmatic, local solutions shaped by the people who live here and have the support of the people in the Fifth District to the Council.
City Hall has fumbled issues we all deal with every day — traffic law enforcement, traffic management, road conditions, winter storm preparedness and response, taking away vacuum leaf collection which prevents storm sewer back-ups that cause flooding, even sidewalk placement. Too often recently, the voices of Fifth District neighbors haven’t been listened to on these issues. I will listen — and I will support what neighbors say matters most to them, find compromise when viewpoints among our neighbors differ, so we can protect the character of our neighborhoods.
Lexington is progressive and prosperous, but in changing economies, many people are struggling quietly while working hard to support themselves and their families. I want to be a voice for them — on jobs, affordable housing, mental health, and food insecurity — and help lead Lexington solutions supported by Fifth District neighbors.

Anyone who knows me, knows this candidate runs on good food! Today’s refueling pitstop on the campaign trail was Tai on Rye, the twice annual pop up deli lextaiky in the 5th District. I had the best corned beef and pastrami w/mustard sandwiches this foodie has had in a long while, IYKYK! The pop up will be back in the fall, give them a follow and don’t miss it! Then it was off to meet with a constituent in their home who has a very thoughtful and experienced POV that I respect on issues in the 5th District and city at large. 🔗 Link in bio for website to get involved! 🤝 🔗 Link in bio to donate! $5, $15, $25, $50 💳 🔗 Link in bio to Kentucky Voter Information Center! 🗳️ 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏾♀️I am ready to listen, so anyone who wants to meet the candidate (that’s me, Michael), comment or message me for when you can find me @kenwicktable or @Josieslexky, I can’t wait to meet you and hear what’s on your mind! #potholeatemycar #onthecampaigntrail #coffeewiththecandidate #ListeningFirst #5thDistrictButton

Plot twist: it’s not just a logo… it’s a whole mood. So here it is, the official logo of my 5th District City Council campaign. After way too many font debates and “is that blue too blue?” moments, we’re officially unveiling the campaign logo. Clean. Bold. Ready to work. The 5th District deserves leadership that listens, asks the right questions, leads, and actually gets things done. This logo? It’s just the beginning. Let’s build something we’re proud to put our name on. Visit my website www.michaelforlex5th.com to learn more, find out how you can get involved and donate! Link in the Bio! Because this campaign isn’t about flashy slogans — it’s about doing the actual work for the 5th District. Consider this the soft launch of hard conversations, pragmatic solutions shaped by 5th District neighbors, and leadership that listens. I am ready to listen, so anyone who wants to meet the candidate (that’s me, Michael), comment or message me for when you can find me @kenwicktable or @Josieslexky, I can’t wait to meet you and hear what’s on your mind! #potholeatemycar #coffeewiththecandidate #ListeningFirst #5thdistrict #CampaignLaunchButton
